The site was Aurora Texas, in Wise County. Some accounts say that it struck a windmill first. MUFON and other groups have investigated the story since the 1970s. Scientists have put on contamination protection suits and gone into the well, and pulled out water moccasins. An old man who lives there had severe arthritis and rashes on his hands, but that may not have come from the site. Ground penetration devices found the shape of a grave in an unusual location, where the "alien" might have been buried.
The fastest manmade airborne devices at the time were balloons, which could not have covered territory as quickly as newspaper reports (photographed on the show) indicated.

Clearly marketed as an introductory account, rather than a book for the seasoned ufologist, Rutkowski's book does that task admirably. It is mainly a chronological account with representative reports from the various decades, including old favourites and the less well known, interspersed with first-hand eyewitness accounts. There are also sections on abductions, crop circles and cattle mutilations, the latter two being treated with the appropriate scepticism.
Unlike many other writers in this field, Rutkowski is very willing to discuss the numerous complexities associated with many of these cases, and to present the multiple sides, rather than indulging in breathless promotion of the ETH or knee-jerk debunking.
One thing which discerning readers will detect from the various cases is the absence of anything like a unitary UFO phenomena, rather the term UFO has become a sort of cover term for lots of different experiences, and the probability that even the most puzzling cases are generated by many different things.
Stan Gordon's little book gives accounts of some old-fashioned UFO reports, of the sort which were common in the days before the crashed saucer and abduction manias, along with accounts of Bigfoot, mystery cats and other general weirdness.
As with many of these accounts it is difficult to know what to make of them. While some of the reports are no doubt caused by misidentifications and misperceptions of various kinds, others, if reported accurately, would seem be very difficult to explain, and that goes for classical explanations in terms of ET craft or paws-and-pelts animals, as well as more mundane explanations. Date: October 9, 2010Time: Approx: 6:00 p.m.Hi, I was just reading your blog about spotting a UFO on Oct 09, 2010. It was roughly 6:00pm when I noticed a extremely bright cylinder shape UFO falling towards earth at an unknown speed, when suddenly came to complete stop in mid-air. When I was witnessing this, an airplane flew past, so they must've seen this bright light travelling at such speed. I can't remember at which direction the airplane was traveling at, but I'm sure that the passenger and the pilot witnessed this phenomenon. Shortly after while I was looking at this object, a 2nd object appeared, but in further distance.This was a identical light and shape, and it was also not moving at all. While outside tending my garden, i had the thought,look up! Right where i looked up and to the north east i saw a morphing orb switching between blue white white pink white grey white colors. I felt time almost stop as i connected with the ufo. Then affer the connection ceased i wanted a closer look. I decided to run in and get my binoculars. I took two steps and was almost told to stop and look up and when i did the ufo was vanished. I grew up around an air force base and studied airplanes and got to see more then the normal kid gets to. I know of nothing like this.

I was driving to visit in an area of my town I frequently go and once lived, I was driving and noticed a low bright light in the sky just above the mountain I thought to myself wow i have never seen that there before, it was too close and bright to be a star so I thought that maybe it was a satellite but I have never seen a satellite that close before. The object appeared to be hovering I stopped my car and got out and took some pictures and a short video. I took pictures on my phone some with the zoom and some without as well I took a couple pictures with the flash some without, but I am not sure which are which. When taking the pictures the object was bopping around in and out of the frame, I thought it might be me but then I steadied my arm on my car and the same thing was happening. Then my cell phone died, so I left and the object was still there, I returned to the same spot about an hour and a half later and it was gone.
