Israel Defense Forces Train For Ufo Attacks
The skies are filled with UFOs, laser guns blazing, aliens appearing out of nowhere to abduct humans, mutilate cows and prove crop circles are real. Who ya gonna call? Forget John Podesta - the only group who is prepared to save us is the Israel Defense Forces. Wait, what?

According to the Jerusalem Post, the Israel Defense Force (IDF) conducted exercises last weekend to prepare its troops in the event of an alien invasion. Using the Israel Air Force's computer programming unit "Ofek," soldiers learned how to resist an attack from UFOs by sabotaging their on-board computer systems. Where have I heard that strategy before?

Lt. Col. Meir, the commander of the engineering unit to the IDF website, explained what they were trying to accomplish.

The goal was to make them understand the importance developing [cyber] defense. We adapted the exercise to Generation Y, which loves challenges. So we prepared the framing story of an alien invasion.

Teams of Israeli military forces competed against each other to hack into a hypothetical alien computer network and either bring it down or steal its data while at the same time protecting their own system from being compromised by the extraterrestrials. At the end of the exercise, here's what the soldiers learned, according to Major Gil, head of the cyber division,

... the importance of protecting the secrets of the Air Force's operations.

So our first line of defense against alien attack is the Israel Defense Force sitting in dark rooms in front of their laptops, drinking kosher Red Bull and making sure above all else that their data doesn't get compromised.

Is this the best we can do? If the alien invaders are already shape-shifters, putting up Internet firewalls isn't going to protect us from identity theft. Maybe we should send Will Smith to give them a motivational talk.
