Years ago I received a package of Spanish UFO-related clippings and documents and I was intrigued by one particular article titled, "Un OVNI en el siglo XV" (A UFO in the 15th century). The story was not written by an ufologist but by a literary editor, Luis Bonilla, in the magazine "La Estafeta Literaria", published by the prestigious cultural organization Ateneo de Madrid in 1978. It told the story a UFO sighting on January 5, 1433 in Ciudad Rodrigo, seen by the entire court of King Juan (or John) II of Castile (1405-1454), father of the famous Queen Isabella who backed Columbus. The source of the account transcribed by Bonilla was a letter written by a certain Bachelor Fern'an G'omez de Cibdarreal, said to have been the physician of the King, to the Royal Chaplain Pedro L'opez de Miranda. Although there is quite a bit of controversy concerning the authenticity of this document, as discussed below, let's see first its contents.
Fern'an G'omez begins his letter to L'opez de Miranda describing briefly how the court had arrived to Ciudad Rodrigo (currently in the province of Salamanca in western Spain) on its way to Madrid. The retinue included a number of important figures like the Bishop of Palencia and the "Condestable" (Constable) Don Alvaro de Luna, one of the era's most powerful military leaders. The letter continues:
I shall not tire your lordship with this narration, since we had just arrived [to Ciudad Rodrigo] when, walking on Wednesday the 5th of this month of January [1433], "we suddenly saw a great flame of yellow fire attached to the sky move from one end to the other; it had inside like a black root and all its borders were more whitish than the middle; and it left with a great roar, causing horses and mules to ran in fear, and my own mule didn't stop until it touched another mule". Great disputes about this arose between the learned ones and those with no degrees who, without having seen the words of Aristotle, talked about how this light was up there, and how its interior could be lit like a log. The dean of Burgos stated he believes it must be the matter from the first region [in the sky], viscous and condensed, lit by the Sun, and how its weight prevented its quick dispersal, and the nature of fire brought it from here to there while its viscous part was spent, and the roar was its end. I concur with his opinion, because it could not have been what Aristotle calls the nature of comets... because it would have not moved in such varied manner, nor any other, and it would have not ended with that roar. The enemies of the "Condestable" [Don Alvaro de Luna, Commander of the Army] said this flame was the "Condestable", who would set ablaze Castile and the roar was his last gasp. ALIEN INTRUSION OR SOCIAL PSYCHOSIS

The end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st Century has seen the rise of two social phenomenon that may have a direct correlation.
One is a complex phenomenon centered around the educational process within the institutions that has seen a growth of digital software and media based education and recreational experience and the other is the rise of the subculture of the alien which is also driven by the obvious and global presence of alien contact.
There are indicators that the growth of technology and the alien presence are harmlessly co-incidental e.g. Moores [pseudo] law suggests that computing power has an ongoing doubling effect every few years. Also, culturally the explosion of the digital paradigm and its spread into every aspect of communication, recreation and education suggests the existence of a supply and demand driven industry than any overt alien influence.
But then who or what creates the supply and demand - these factors dont have to be innocent - theoretically they could be engineered.
There are however, one or two clues available that show that what is happening to our society and culture is already an accepted paradigm within alien society.
Some factor is certainly driving the quality of culture down producing a negating and nihilist effect.
The emergent human social paradigm from these new and wonderful technologies is severely flawed in that it clearly cannot illustrate with any digital resolution or clarity to the masses the high detail of fine art masterpieces or the sonic clarity of any aspect of the music industry.
Nor could such miniature technologies and their uses adequately represent such cultural assets.
Instead the proliferation of various recreational formats on numerous digital platforms has seen a decrease rather than an increase in diversity on display on the high street as duplicate works catering for all the formats squeeze out the specialist artistic creations from their places on the crammed shelves.
Small screens and display units with low resolution and low visibility language seem to create an atmosphere where social meaning and values are deprioritised.
In this cultural atmosphere of what also amounts to a reduction of social diversity and quality, a new social reality and subculture has emerged that is based upon pseudo-creative behaviour that utilises fragments or samples of bigger and often more established works.
In music these mixes take fragments of songs and incorporate them into other works on a different theme. In the illicit but patronised multimedia countercultures, key fragments are borrowed from established film and TV and recycled into mixes that are a similar sort of pastiche to the music DJ.
The UFO internet and channelling dialogs tend to recycle self-referential pastiches to a formulaic theme which borrow their vocabulary and labels from human mythology and phonetics produced by human palette and vocal chords - often remixing and fusing names of gods or other personages together in an attempt to sound original.
Even politicians speak in sound bytes for the masses.
In writing for book and TV and film, there are book and script wizards rolling out formulaic processes, and in TV reality talent shows, tribute acts recycle themes of days gone by either in fashions or in musical idioms.
Where is a new and definitive Elvis of the 21st Century for example ?
Being multimedia and creatively orientated myself, I am not against the use of such tools but are we exhibiting senescence as a society when what we consider original work is only representation of the work of others.
In the schools, children are reported more and more as leaving education without the ability to read or write and their own psychological complaints can include attention deficient disorder, perhaps itself related to the vacuous educational strategy known as outcomes based education - a touchy feely idiom that deals with emotions rather than the ability to calculate and analyse and inherited from Nazi Germany, or, diet or other chemicals could contribute to this too.
It is true after all that those people born in the 50s and 60s etc had less of their growing and formative cellular biology exposed to the industrial processing of nitrites and E additives in meats and other foods and drinks etc.
It isnt food intake or the ingestion of physical nutrients that can be solely responsible for this creative malaise of the spirit and I strongly suspect that the real drivers and causes are not rooted in the human paradigm at all.
I suspect that alien priorities are being asserted upon us.
There does seem to be evidence of a generic social malaise that should be telling us that things are going wrong within our social and recreational institutions.
In tandem with this, there are the tales of many abductees that speak of alien farming techniques that extract experience samples from their targets.
It is as if alien DJs are uploading and downloading and exchanging human experiences - allegedly feeding them to their hybrid progeny to supply an experiential basis for their newly acquired tendencies that are grafted on from the human condition.
These new kinds of complex emotional intelligence software that the aliens may be manufacturing and extracting are about attitudes to ordinary things that the average human being does; coping behaviour, psychological strategies for conflict resolution and problem solving in numerous human contexts.
The capacity for creative thinking amongst these negative extra terrestrials is not so abundant as that to be found amongst the creatives of humanity. The seeming endless negation that some creative humans experience at the hands of their alien tormentors may well be caused by the refinement and beta testing in alien process-modelling software that could be fed to their hybrids, or indeed a blatant attempt to entrap and entangle the human soul for more long term farming and re-use.
Given that the intruding aliens themselves seem to be masterful at stripping and mixing and remixing experiences according to; Streiber, Jacobs, Schneider, Schroeder, Collier, Hennessey, then it does seem rather too much of a co-incidence that a totally invaded and intruded upon human society is now exhibiting the same creative dysfunction as its alien invaders.
This is a synchronicity that may indicate that creative human problem-solving strategies with software in a bottled and modular environment may be a research necessity for the alien dataminers and strippers - given that these human adaptations to this kind of media could be considered innovative and re-usable and accessible by a more regulated and monotonic mindset of a large alien megapopulation.
I propose therefore that the cultural issues within human creatives and their output in the 21st Century are being driven and steered by the social and evolutionary needs of the Greys and their new semi-creative hybrid population that is currently surviving on pirated uploads from the human population.
It will probably be the goal of this hybrid population to get as self-sufficient as they can with all the tools, samples and art libraries and human teaching resources at their disposal.
That may well be at the expense human cultural evolution though.
I propose that we negotiate a claim for licensing fees for the stuff that they take from us. It is after all, our copyright.

Still stunned by the new information in our possession about the Prestes case, we got on the only bus that makes the trip between Sao Roque and Aracariguama. Since 1946, when it was a village without electricity, running water and sewerage, Aracariguama hadn't grown much and poisonous snakes were still abundant. It is one of the region's oldest towns and has 7000 residents. It was founded some 350 years ago, and was home to the bandeirants, the conquerors of Brazil's vast interior.
According to a report published in the 1960's by the late Dr. Walter Buhler, the police condemned Joao Prestes's house and it was later demolished, since his family was apparently afraid to return to the house, perhaps considered an accursed location.
In Aracariguama, we met with Fabiana Matias de Oliveira, head press secretary for the small township, and she led us to her Uncle Hermes de Fonseca, nearly 70 years old and deeply knowledgeable about the history of the region and its occupants. As is the case with many Brazilians of his age, he continued working to earn a living, making small improvements to his farm close to the Town Hall. Hermes sat on a tree stump and told us about his life, his arrival in Aracariguama in 1945 and the fact that a rattlesnake had bitten his ankle - a scar he showed us proudly.
"I knew Joao Prestes. I remember the date of his death perfectly - it was March 5, 1946. He left behind five of six children and a widow. I never got to see the body - only a few people did. But they said that it was burned. The press would later say that his body had melted, fallen to pieces," the septuagenarian told us.
"Weird things have always occurred here. A year after Joao's death, his brother Emiliano Prestes saw two fireballs rising and striking each other, rising again and repeating the same action, close to the cemetery. Suddenly the lights encircled him and he felt intense heat. He knelt and prayed until the lights left. Even today you can still see these lights, but with less intensity, over at Ibate, between Aracariguama and Sao Roque. When they strike each other they let sparks fly, but don't disintegrate. Giomar Gouveia, a champion jockey and owner of some stables at Ibate, saw a light hovering over his animals, giving off orange beams of light. This was in 1995," Hermes da Fonseca recalled.
Enthused by our interest, Hermes continued, remembering dates and details worthy of his appointment as "official chronicler" of Aracariguama. In 1960, Celso Gomide, a bus driver, was on his way from Sao Roque when he saw a red light that caused him to stop the vehicle. The light approached the cabin and Gomide, frightened began to pray. The passengers were stunned by the uncanny light, which encircled them for some 20 minutes."
"In 1955," he continued, "I worked on the construction of a cable car in the Santa Rita cement factory. It was supposed to be used to transport rock from a local quarry. It was August 24 of that year and the heat was unbearable when myself and other workers saw an object drifting in the blue sky as large as a truck tire, very tall, aluminum-colored, spinning and giving off smoke - circles of white smoke. We saw it at a quarter past eleven, and by twelve o'clock, five or six FAB (Brazilian Air Force) airplanes arrived. They were smaller than the flying wheel, which distanced itself esily from the planes. On the following day, the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper published an article about the fact that thousands of people in Osasco (near Aracariguama) had seen a flying saucer with the same characteristics."
Less than a kilometer away from the town is the graveyard. We found the local gravedigger, 53 year old Nelson Oliveira, who led us to the tomb where the mortal remains of Joao Prestes lay. On the cement box covered by earth, there rose a crudely carved cross and an identification number. Claudio and I felt knots in our throats as we thought about the last moment of Joao Prestes's agony. Regaining our composure, we asked Nelson, who had been a gravedigger since 1976, if he had seen anything strange in the area.
"Around 1989 I saw something weird, round, flying over the cemetery. It was like an upside-down hat made of aluminum, shining when it moved in a straight line and balancing. It was headed toward Sao Paulo," the gravedigger told us, using his own hat as an example.
During a personal interview with ufologist Antonio Ribera in Barcelona, he expressed the belief that Joao Prestes could have been burned by an alien ship's propulsion system. "I don't think the aliens wanted to harm or kill the farmer. They simply didn't know what would happen if they came too close to human beings," Ribera said.
We had much time to reflect upon the tragic death of Joao Prestes Filho as a ramshackle bus took us away from Aracariguama. "What do you think the light that killed Prestes was?," I asked Claudio. "Maybe ball lightning" he replied. "But how can one explain the other lights and creatures in the region?," I insisted.
Claudio Suenaga said nothing. He shrugged and cast a last glance on the church tower of that accursed village.
Sao Roque, Santana do Parnaiba and Aracariguama: Window areas
The region surrounding Sao Roque, Santana do Parnaiba, Aracariguama and other towns neighboring one of the most densely populated cities on Earth (Sao Paulo, with its 18 million inhabitants) has been the scene of unusual phenomna for many years.
The "Supysaua" Newsletter (March'95), published by the Grupo Ufologico de Guaruja, reported that three children had witnessed a glowing UFO on January 4, 1994 in Santana de Parnaiba, where Joao Prestes died. The object approached the backyard of the home in question and floated less than 15 meters over the witnesses. Its color was largely yellow and it possessed sparkling green and red lights. What was remarkable was that within the yellow light, the children could make out a semi-circular shape resembling a dome. The children were startled by the UFO's abrupt, zigzagging movements as it departed at high speed.
In that same year and region, a married couple witnessed from the "Lila" ranch on Km 41 of Castelo Branco highway, a spherical object measuring three meters in diameter which floated between the trees and made no sound whatsoever. It was red in color and was darker at its core. Its periphery was surrounded by several smaller, blinking lights, alternating between blue and red.
In 1993, a 12-year old girl named Regiane Barbosa da Silva witnessed on the same ranch a spherical object measuring some 5 meters in diameter. The UFO suddenly fired a beam of yellow light that covered the girl's body and lit the surrounding area. After the event, Regiane experienced headaches and eye irritation. Three months later, another witness spotted the same object at the same spot. The watchmen of the "Lila" ranch claim having seen two humanoids floating over a brook on the ranch's property.
An elderly Japanese woman who spent her youth in Santana de Parnaiba told Suenaga that she had seen a half-wolfman, half-centaur being in the vicinity of Sitio do Morro. San Roque has also experienced one of the most intense waves of Chupacabras activity in all of South America.
